LIVE REVIEW: Diamond Days

Diamond Days are a band that I have supported from the beginning – blending pop-punk and alt-rock to create a perfect genre fusion, the band are taking the unsigned scene by storm going from strength to strength over the last six months alone. Following the release of their well-received debut EP ‘We’ve Come a Long Way’ in November, I caught up with the lads at their recent Manchester Academy gig for a night of good music and bad behaviour. Having seen them play towards the latter end of last year, I was curious to see whether they would still provide the same high energy set they wowed me with last time – and I’m very pleased to say that they did just that. From the opening chord right down to the last vocal the set was tight, energetic and full of catchy as hell lyrics. It was nice to see that the lads are building a loyal fan base, with a crowd pressed against the barrier singing every word back to them it was clear to see that they’re going places. Fast.

Throwing themselves straight into the set with the ever popular ‘I Rewind’ and followed up by their newest single ‘We Are Young’, they set the pace early on for a set that was to be as energetic and polished as you’d expect to see from long established musicians. The highlight of the night for me, however, was definitely their final song ‘Let Go’ – the type of song that wouldn’t be out of place on much larger stages this summer and, which got everyone singing along and thoroughly enjoying themselves.

If you get chance to see these guys live this year, I’d definitely jump at it. I predict big things for them, and it won’t be long before they’re selling out some major venues. Don’t forget you can also get their EP on iTunes right now!
